Work in progress: Day 6 Finished?

SORRY PHOTO NOT CROPPED STRAIGHT

I have put a gold band along the top panel and re-painted the verandah detail (again!) to get rid of the shadows I added as I thought they just didn't look right. I think it looks better with clean lines and colour. The painting is at the stage where I will put it up on the wall for a week or two to dry properly and give it a coat of varnish medium to protect it. I will then decide if I want to change anything. I am thinking of 'Reminds me of home' or 'Memoirs of home' for a title??.

Thank you for viewing my blog and watching this painting come to life, I have enjoyed doing it and will get another one on the go a.s.a.p. Please leave a comment or opinion of this work if you wish. Cheers Shelly :)

Work in progress: Day 4

Pic8:
Close up detail of Quince and leaves. Verandah detail is still to have a shadow or line added. I have done about 12 hours on this so far, having to break it into a bit here and there as the children allow!!.

Pic 7:
Left hand panel darkened and quince finished (hopefully)Roof detail started, several layers & lines of colour building up depth. Top panel brushed with gold-also needs more depth & sky to be lightened again so to give more depth to painting (see earlier sky colour).

Sky started, Dark green blocked in for hedge, crackle applied the lighter green applied. Darker green crackles through and gives lovely texture. Hedge detail started along top (hard to see with flash). Gold panel undercoat applied around sketch of Quince branch, I will add more leaves when I start to paint details.

Pic3:
Canvas re-primmed with tissue. Measured out and sketched, starting to block in base colours.

I have recently been to my parents home in the heart of the 'Maniototo'-Ranfurly and took four rolls of film of the area including the landscape, buildings and details focusing on linear lines, textures and light. I have been so inspired and have started on my first painting for the year of the roof of Mum & Dads house.
